Built for the Elements: ESI Generators Delivered Nonstop Power in the Artic
ECHO mobile generators delivered nonstop power for over two months in the unforgiving Arctic Alaskan wilderness without a single failure or maintenance break.
Challenge:
On a high-profile Oil and Gas Project, Onyx Drilling searched for gravel deposits to build roads and pads supporting future oil platforms on Alaska’s remote, environmentally sensitive North Slope. With subzero temperatures, minimal infrastructure, and strict regulations, operations required precision and resilience. Onyx Drilling needed an ultra-reliable, rugged mobile power solution to run drills, lighting, and critical equipment—where failure could halt progress, jeopardize safety, and trigger costly service calls in unforgiving, high-stakes conditions.
Solution:
To meet the challenge, Equipment Source Inc (ESI) Alaska deployed two DGK 180 diesel generators from ECHO Industrial Power Equipment (IPE). Built for rugged durability and easy operation, the generators delivered the low-maintenance, dependable power Onyx Drilling required. ESI Alaska also provided Arctic-grade support, from efficient logistics to custom solutions like the “Arctic Re-Air” kit, which recirculates radiator heat. Combined with ECHO’s technology, these measures kept crews safe and equipment running in the North Slope’s extreme conditions.
